AE111 Airbox differences

Postby clarkbzg » Wed Jun 15, 2011 7:45 pm

so just replaced the pod filter setup in my 1997 carib BZ touring with the factory setup. The black plastic pipe which runs from the airbox towards the headlight was still there so did not bother getting that too, but when I fitted the airbox the plastic pipe is a smaller diameter than the opening in the airbox for it.

Has anyone come across this before?? I figured it would all be the same.

Thanks guys, Nick

Levin/Trueno's have a larger triangular opening than Corollas and Caribs from what I remember. I used the lower half off a 4AFE Corolla as it also had the correct moulding for where it bolts to gearbox mount.

Quite possible later BZ Carib has a larger opening though?

Toyota slightly changed the intake size in 1999. You'll need to get one from a pre-99 model in order for it to be compatible.

ah well thats confusing.
The airbox was from a 98 carib, but did notice that it did not want to bolt up correctly to the mounts too. Seems like I'll need to investigate that one a bit more and try other parts then

Anyone have a complete intake going then??haha
