ST185 Cooling fans intermittent when hot

agreed. But if you had seen the rest of the plugs from my fuse box you would wonder how the car even starts :S
This has been a suspected problem since before i added the aircon fan to the circuit.

argh. Understood. I'm not an amatuer i understand how cooling fans work. It's getting hot enough!! Point being that once it's hot enough they're not always working. I.e it has an intermitent fault ffs.

Your fan/s are working exactly like they are supposed to from what you've written.
They are not regulated by engine temp/what your gauge says.
They are regulated by a sensor on the radiators output side to run fans when the coolant going into the engine hasn't been cooled down enough. Assuming that the radiator is adequate capacity, the fan/s should only be on when there is no/low air flow.

Yes they are working how they should. Now.
Why the hell would the fans not kick in if it getting well past operating temprature? Because the terminal wasn't always connecting properly. Sometimes the fans would not kick in AT ALL even when the engine is getting up towards the red zone. I thought i had explained this already. I mean i fixed the fricken fault and confirmed it by moving the wire around. Fans on, fans off, fans on, fans off. Fix the terminal. Fans always on when the sender is disconnected so it runs the whole time. Reconnect it, take it for a drive car warms up fans not working (no problem, they shouldn't work.) sit it in driveway and let it idle for a couple minutes. Fans kick in. Sweet. problem fixed.
