Yes, but more so the 3S as the pump is driven off the cam belt.
Several times during my time at Toyota a customer wouldn't want to spend the extra on the pump at cam belt time. Then a few months later they come in demanding we fix their car for free because the cam belt has snapped.
On pulling it apart, lo and behold, seized water pump!

These are one of the easier cambelts to do. All 'S' series engines are non interference engines so if it does snap its only an inconvenience nothing major.
