Evergreen headgaskets

Postby iamawesome » Fri Jan 13, 2012 7:38 am

Anyone seen or used these before? I highly suggest everyone stays away from them, did 500k and popped the head gasket. Only runs standard boost on standard turbo. Seems to be the same thing being said on other forums too. Just a warning to people :)

Seen them on ebay, cheap and nasty gasket sets. For head gaskets go TGP, paying a few bucks extra is better than the risk of having to pull the head off and redo it. And with the prices through Mark its really not that much extra for a TGP part.
Reality: A nasty hallucination that is caused by excess blood in the alcohol stream.

Hah, I have a complete 4AGE set which Ive used bits from, seems ok, havent used the head gasket and would not anyway really, its too important and I want only the best.

For anything other than the head gasket, they are fine imo

Oh really? I wouldn't trust them at all after this, no gasket should fail after 500k on a standard engine

understandable, but head gaskets are the most stressed seals on the engine by a long shot, so on more non-critical components they do just fine.

Same thing as the cheap gasket sets you get from STA parts, 20-30 bucks for a gasket set, then buy a proper headgasket, generally works out cheapest. I needed a rocker cover gasket and something else for a 3S-FE, just bought the whole set and was done.
