AE70 Suspension

Hey,

I took my AE70 for a drive tonight and noticed a knocking noise coming from the back right shock. I don't think it's a cv joint or bearing as it's not when I turn, it's when I go over a bump in the road. The back right of the car also sits lower than the left.

I'm thinking that it's going to be a collapsed shock as it's similar to the noise that I could hear when the shock in my Honda was shot.

My question is, what would be my best option? I really really want to avoid a cert so want to avoid coilovers. Can shocks be rebuilt? If so, how much? Or is it easier to buy second hand and get it shortened like the others?

Any suggestions welcome along with offers of replacement if you have anything that will fit a AE70.

It certainly wont be a CV joint, cause it doesnt have any Its probably just a lower shock bush, cheap as. Hell even new shocks arent all that dear. Bring it up my way for a look, can do you a deal on new suspension.

If it is the shock at fault, replace both with new. If you're having to get them shortened, you may as well shorten good shocks not half stuffed ones. Spring should determine ride height, not shock. Push the car down in that corner and count how many times it bounces.

How much would I be looking at for new?

Doesnt bounce at all, goes down and up and stops.

Would be surprised if is the shocks, the car has only done like 5000k's or so since being revinned, and Devon put the shocks in a couple of months after that. Unless he used second hand stuff.
At a guess, sub $200 a pair for rear shocks, depending on what brand you wanted.
