Anyone know how to install a MAP ECU 3?

Postby steroidcontaskie » Tue May 15, 2012 2:40 pm

Hi all

I have a 2jzge turbo project that is almost complete and, given a succesfull start up and non-boosting drive, will be ready for the MAP-ECU 3 to be installed and a Base Map put on.

I am keen to get this done before I take it to the tuners so I can put in the bigger injectors and drive it with some boost to check that I dont get boost leaks.

Does anyone in Auckland (car is in Otahuhu) know how to wire one of these up? There is beer and possibly 'just friends' spooning in it for you.

Cheers
Edward

Hi again mate

Did the mapecu not come with a wiring diagram? If not, google should have some info I would expect.

Good to hear you are getting to the end of the project, what injectors did you decide to buy?

If you dont end up installing them before taking it to the tuners, your car will drive and start 100% factory, and will be fine provided you dont get tempted to build boost. The factory map sensor will put the ecu into limp mode at 2psi from memory so theres a safety feature of sorts of you cant control yourself lol

Goodluck :)

EDIT: hopefully this pdf in the thread helps you...

Hey dude

I have 550cc Rx7 injectors that are meant to be plug and play with the 2jzge.

Have 6 of them that are all flowing the same, but I had to get 3 lots (total of 12) to get 6 flowing the same. word of warning if anyone tells you that you dont need to flow test injectors.

Thanks for the link, I will have a read on how to install it.
To be honest I am not very cluded up when it comes to wiring and didnt want to blow the car up :) . I know the MAP ECU is meant to be easy to do, but there are issues around what to do with the oxygen sensors etc and I just am not too sure. Figured if someone here already knew now to install it in a OBD2 2jzge it would save me a lot of grief.

Guess if know one takes me up on my just friends spooning offer, I could give it a blast myself. Or I could drive it to the tuners and get them to install it and then drive it home and put the injectors and a base map on.

Cheers for all the help.

Edward

Yeah those injectors are a little infamous for being a bit up and down, especially if theyre second hand from a 13b.

I have the same ones but brand new sard items just so I knew they would flow evenly.

I would just drive it there in the morning, then remove your injectors and swap in the new ones in the carpark so you save on some labour costs, and then pay them to install the map ecu and tune it if you arent confident to do it yourself. It will be money well spent

Be careful swapping injectors on an engine that has just been driven. I've seen the mixture of hot engine parts and fuel vapours mix fairly spectacularly. Spend the extra and get it all installed by the tuner.

I guess I should have stated the obvious and said "ensure you let the engine cool down first" ;)
