94 Camry fault....HELP

Postby d1 mule » Fri May 04, 2012 4:45 pm

Hey all, so my flatmates got a 94 Camry with a 5SFE and AUTO box.

yesterday it started to do really weird things when under load above 60kph. It felt like we all of a sudden hooked 10 Ton on the back of the car, wouldnt rev etc, then would come right for a minute.

I checked the codes, came up 31 which going by my research is MAP sensor, so we tracked one down and cleared the codes, and it was fine for about an hour driving, now itd doing the same thing but worse.

checked the codes and its constantly flashing soi assume thats fine??

any ideas??

cheers

If you checked trouble codes on the ground you have not replicated the fault and it could be pending - i.e. not recorded by ECU as permanent yet.

Try to check in the "Special Diagnostic Test Mode" - procedure is different and you need to drive to recreate conditions (i.e. when the problem occurred).
1. TE2+E1 first then IGN -> ON and drive with the speed above 15 km/h
2. With IGN still ON (and TE2 connected to E1) - connect E1 + TE1 and read Check Engine light.
Code 31 is MAP or AFM sensor or circuit or ECU.
