MAP sensor filter cleaning

Postby limbo » Sun Jul 08, 2012 12:01 am

Not really a question, my car has had a bad idle, mainly just high idle, for quite a while now and was starting to feel less responsive.

On a whim I pulled the line off the map sensor to the plenum which had a small in line filter to see if it was blocked at all. Turned out I could hardly blow through it. Not a massive deal as there isnt much flow anyway just enough to pressurise the area behind the filter.

I checked it and it was good about 3000km ago when the engine was rebuilt so I guess it blocked from PVC gas and muck when the engine was still running in.

Anyway point of the story is if you have a map sensor and filter, check it as my car idles a lot better and feels more responsive now.

Does anyone know if you can or should clean MAP sensors themselves?
