High Idle speed on Na-t start up

Hi all

I have just started my 2jz na-T projected and the good news is the engine started and runs ok , the bad news is there are a few funny noises and oil leaks etc....

I have run it for a min or so and the idle is sitting up at 2000, anyone have any ideas why the idle would be off?

I have changed the fuel pump, spark plugs for colder ones, different distributor cap (but the timing seem ok). Different torque converter/gearbox and diff. And of course there is now a turbo and and intercooler between the filter and the throttle body.

Is it normal for the idle to be messed up or is it something I have done.

Cool, I will have a look for that, I have put in a Boost sensor and run a line to a blow off valve so I could have created a leak there.

Sort out everything else first then worry about the idle. It's probably just running high because it's in cold start mode + ECU has been reset from being without power for a long time. I don't know the exact details of your build but 2000rpm is nothing unusual for a cold start on a reset ECU.

See what it does when it's at operating temp (which you'll need to fix the other stuff for) then go from there.

Good to hear you have it running.

Given you have changed to the 4runner dissy cap, you will want to ensure your base timing is set properly. Use a short length of wire, or a paperclip, and bridge the terminals E1 and TE1 inside the diagnostic port in the engine bay, then throw a timing light on it and set it to 10deg BTDC.

I think mine idles at 1700rpm on cold start, so 2k isnt that high. As above, just let it get to operating temps and settle down before worrying too much. (obviously dont run it if its leaking oil though)

Cheers Guys

It is leaking out of one of my braided lines running from the block to the oil filter relocation. Used braied lines which I got with a second hand kit from Jap spares. But before I blame them, I did cut some of the lines shorter and reput on the AN fittings on. So it is probably my Gypsy job. Will just get another line made up, but as is always the case getting to it will be the issue.

Good idea, mate. Oil lines are the last place you want to have poor connection(apart from fuel lol), so make sure the rest of yours are in perfect condition.

What did you make up your turbo feed and return lines out of? PTFE?

The oil feed is braided line (external and internal braied) with AN fittings made by GSS in auckland ( High Quality) and the drain is Trust grex braided line with Earls fittings put together by me..... dum dum dum.... but it didnt seem to be leaking and isnt under pressure anyway.

Most of the lines were made by GSS, but a couple I made from the second hand kit.... go figure they would leak.

I am guessing they are PTFE, but i didnt check, just told the store they were for oil lines.
