ti valves dont like 14.65mm of lift either and if you miss a gear and buzz the motor its just a granade waiting to go off ,been there done that

im using steel valves from the states 36mm on inlet and 31 on the exhaust
also using a special valve spring and retainer at 80 lbs on the seat and also have another1 thats 90 on the seat good for turbo i would think

80 ftlb's on the seat would be plenty. I would go stainless valves though over the titanium valves in a turbo application. Kelfords do a spring kit for them that are pretty well priced. You don't need all that much lift and duration in a turbo application to make a fair bit of grunt. You will just end up making it laggy and with huge overlap and a small turbo it will choke, not rev anyway and then it will have been a pointless exercise. I have been through this.... The stock crank will be fine! If you try and make much over 400hp for an extended period of time it WILL split a bore, That's just how it goes with the 3s. The block is the week point.
If you want to give Craig from Turbochargers New Zealand in Nelson a ring and tell him that Willie from Christchurch said to give him a yell he will be able to build you a turbo to suit what you want to do at a very sharp price as well. Also you could give Caraid in here in Christchurch a call as they have done a fair few turbo beams motors including Ryan Heagny's enduro AE86.
Current ride: Sweeeeet Hiace. 3L power!!!!
Project: AW11 4agte, 410kw 555hp on 26psi

Hi mate. Thanks for the info. Couple of people have said similar things to me that you just have. Caraid also built a mates motor and he raves about them also. Will go see them when they're open next. Re turbo, I already have one new in the box from a previous project, so will use that.

i'm viewing this thread with interest as i have a manual altezza head which i'm planning on putting on my stroked forged bottom end from my SE104 project. I'm sure people will think i'm mad wanting to turn around a dual beams head (i possibly am mad) I was thinking of putting a couple of external oil drains back to the sump to drain from the lowside of the head.

it'll be going into an ST205 and i'm proposing to use either a VF36 hybrid turbo or a VF36 based TD06sl2 turbo, i want 450hp at the motor, with as broader torque spread as possible, looking fowards to playing with exhuast cam timing to spool the turbo sooner.
