Update:

Hi everyone, Just wanted to let you know what the deal was with the running rich and missing when trying to lean it out issue.

So, the cars idle is a little bit variable according to the piggy back ECU (could be a bit of electrical noise), car dial is steady.

During Idle it is jumping between 2 zones of the fuel map, when I tried to lean it out I was only leaning one of the two zones and this resulted in a large difference in the amount of fuel in the two zones it was jumping between. The result of this was the a missfire on cylinder 6 due to loss of spark, followed by more cylinders if one of the two zones was leaned out more.

Not sure what the factory ECU was doing to make this miss happen, but when both zones where leaned out at the same time the miss did not occur.

One more step forward.

Cheers
Edward

Running ok. Still has the 330cc injectors in it, Starts to run leaner than I would like at about 6psi. And the wonders of the xs power turbo kit have come back to bite me, the waste gate is meant to have a 9psi spring in It, but the car hit 15 psi When i gave it a quick stab of beans. Couldn't feel any detonation and the engine seems ok, probably lucky I am injecting so much water into the engine and the factory ecu will pull timing if it detects detonation. Going to put the 550s in and sort out the idle and cruising then figure out if the waste gate is stuck closed or just has a stiffer spring than I ordered. Then back to the tuners and see what happens. How much boost do you think I can run with a stock head gasket and water meth injection?

There is no magic number for how much boost you can run unfortunately, so my answer is going to be, tune it on the dyno and monitor for knock. But if you are doing water/meth injection you will have alot more headroom than if you werent running it. Circa 14psi with that turbo I would think, provided everything else is healthy.

Did you get a 40 or 50mm gate? The 40mm is notorious for sticking/breaking, and they both get sent with 1bar springs, even if he told you otherwise. Take the gate off and push the actuator the full length of its travel a few times to check its not sticking, but dont lubricate it.

Get those 550's in asap, and a walbro if you havent put one in already, and you will have a bit more of a safety margin in your fuel system, running on the edge isnt fun.

I got the 50mm gate, I figured the bigger the better :-p

I better take the wastegate apart and try get a 9psi spring.

I have a water injection failsafe that will send a signal to my MAP ECU piggy back if the flow is either too high or too low and then trigger a secondary map. Was planing on turning the boost soleniod off and retarding the time, but will need a lighter spring for that to work.

I have a Walbro in and I will put the injectors in next weekend. Btw, when you installed your 550cc injectors did you use the o-rings for stock injectors?

When I did get the 15 psi, the check engine light flashed on for a sec. Car seems fine, any idea why it would flash on? Do you think it was detecting detonation or a miss?

I would run the diagnostic check to see if it stored a code(Bridege E1 and TE1 in the diag port and count the flashes on the dash), but its possible it was oil or brake fluid slosh if it only came on for a second.

I bought 18 new o rings for the injectors as my stock ones were old and brittle, I fiugured its not worth trying to skimp on a few dollars when its the fuel system.
