What fittings to use for fuel???

Postby Adoom » Sun Feb 03, 2013 7:41 pm

So I need some hose fittings on an alloy fuel tank. And an oil catch tank.
I intend to use normal EFI hose for the fuel.

One option is to use weld on bungs for AN fittings.
The inlet on the fuel pump is 12.5mm, so I guess I need AN -8 to suit that hose size.

One I'm not sure about is the return line from the regulator. The outlet on the regulator takes 8mm hose.(A pretty standard fuel line size on Jap cars, right?).
But the closest fittings I can find are AN -4(6.3mm) or AN -6(9.5mm)

Then I need two -10 5/8 barbs on the oil catch tank.

So add it all together, and it's about $75...
All I want is four barbed fittings to weld to alloy....

Is there a cheaper option?

what about using a brass barb connector? should be able to find ones in the right size from a harware supplier or plumbing store. Then either weld on an alloy nut or a block of alloy you could drill and tap to the right thread...

Or even cheaper, you could try just welding on a bit of alloy tube directly to the tank and run a small weld bead around the end or flare it so the clamp has something to grip.

I envy those with little interest in cars, for they have money and spare time.
