Hi all
At the moment I am trying to solve turning radius arc and interference with the wheel well.
I have some 18x9.5s 35 offset on the Celica with a 20mm spacer at the front. The reason to use the spacer is to clear the coilovers as the tyre hits the locking ring. With the spacer on, the tyre clears the coilover locking ring, but hits the wheel well due to larger turning radius of the wheel.
I'm looking to run a narrow spacer, say 5-10mm to decrease turning arc, while still clearing the locking ring.
The below diagram illustrates a possible solution, whereby I get some low profile spacers with wheel locator ring machined up. The spacers would then attach to the disc using some grub screws aligned to the 2x threaded holes on the disc.
Is this a viable solution as LVVTA states spacer must be attached to the hub or the wheel (though standard spacers sit between disc and wheel).
Situation:
1. Putting a spacer behind the disc out is a bit of a mission with the disc located on the spigot with a special locator ring which Barry made up as part of my brake kit. It means we'd have to re-design the kit, which is not a favourable option.
2. Wheels with better offset is an option or go to a narrower width wheel, though I'd rather exhaust viable options before selling off the wheels and tyres (sunk cost and all)
3. Remove keeper springs from coilovers and see if the wheel fits without interference (will be trying this week sometime.
Suggestions and recommendations would be appreciated.
Thanks Dave
