Cynos ( Tercel / Paseo also ? ) heater matrix question

Postby markoneswift » Mon Jun 24, 2013 12:28 pm

Hi everyone - the heater output on my Cynos B is crap. On a frosty morning like today, it takes AGES to get rid of the condensation / frost on the screen. What are the common issues with these ? I'm assuming it could be blocked ( is this common ? ) but I'm assuming it is connected as the firewall pipes are in place but one gets hot and the other only luke warm. The thermostat has been checked and coolant levels are all good.
Would back-flushing and forward flushing with a hosepipe work ? If not, what's the matrix like to get at for removal ? Thanks again

Turn on AC if you don't already, removes condensation 100x faster.

Hands on the inside palm on the screen helps to melt the frost quicker. Once you the melt started it doesn't take long. Or else start the car 10 minutes before you want to leave with the heater on full hot and full fan but blowing into the car not on the screen then everything will defrost not just the screen.
See ya

Thanks for the tips mate but I come from England where we have real ice and -10 temps in winter so I know how to deal with it. The problem I have is that the heater is crappper than crap and if I leave the car running it really doesn't have much effect. The only way I can get some heat out of it is to drive it for a bit and even then it's rubbish !!
