ZZE-123 Fielder Gearbox Fluid

Postby V-JAY » Sat Mar 08, 2014 7:37 pm

Hi lad's,

I recently acquired an '01' Fielder Z Aero with the 6 speed manual box. I've had a good search here and can't find too much info in relation to what gearbox oil to use etc. Every post I read about these gearboxes tends to be about bearing related issues requiring full rebuilds.... I want to prolong this for as long as I can.

Can someone please advise what oil to use in these transmissions? I'm guessing I have a 'C60' but don't quote me on this. Again, I've read you can't use this oil over that oil because one will damage syncro's and one will damage the diff - not keen on taking a punt and finding out.

Many thanks.

I'd say you would have a C60, My Celica has the same thing.

I think I used Redline MT90 the last time I changed my gearbox oil - don't use Lightweight Shockproof oil from Redline as the friction modifiers apparently ruin the synchro's in C60 gearbox's.
Cheers,
Brandon

Thanks Mal. That sounds about right to me.... I take it you're running the 6 speed C60 in your ALLEX?

Brandon - I read online people using the MT-90 - where did you purchase it from because it ain't cheap!

My gearbox is fine "touch wood" but I'm going to give the car a wee birthday as I don't know the history etc.

I bought mine from BNT (on an account, I don't think that gives much discount though)... and you're right haha, it's not cheap.. You don't have to change gearbox oil as often as engine oil though, so I figured it was worth the money to keep my gearbox happy.
Cheers,
Brandon

Yep, Redline isnt cheap, but then nothing good ever is.

It lasts donkeys years, and is well respected.

As Brandon said though, just steer clear of the shockproof smurf urine, and you should be golden.

You wouldn't read about this, the box has started making noises! FML. There is a terrible bearing noise on decel, I know this noise well as I've been in the bearing industry for 13 years. Ah well, out she comes for a full rebuild. Might start a 'how to' thread with pics.

Poo.
