I have a cheap OBD2 bluetooth adapter, that you can use the free Torque app on Androids to use. Not too sure how well it works tho? Could pop around if you want to try it, i'm not far from Albany.

Cool, North Shore Toyota said I can bring it in for a free scan this afternoon - if for some reason that doesn't pan out, I will def be in touch.

If its a Prius, it may be related to a current recall for inverter waterpump replacement?

I am aware of the recall, but I didn't pursue it because I thought it expired last year. How do I check? I emailed the recall team at Toyota NZ months ago for other reasons but no reply.

It's with North Shore Toyota now getting repaired. Surely they'd know/could check if it's under recall right? I will ask tomorrow.

Thanks for reminding me about that.

Yeap we'll be able to check it if the car is covered under the campaign - which I'm pretty sure it will be.
If it's somehow not covered for some reason that I cannot think of, those pumps don't look to be THAT expensive. It'll definitely be cheaper than cooking your inverter away :D

Thanks, I ended up taking it to Albany Toyota and they said it wasn't covered under the campaign. It only cost me $250 in the end as it's still under mechanical breakdown insurance (the pump and coolant would have cost at least that anyway, so it's nice to know I don't have to that maintenance item for another 8 years or so).

If I send you the car details could you check if it's under any other sort of campaign? There's 3 or 4 that I'm aware of but it's impossible for me to check myself as it's an import.
