Help my AE82 Fxgt sounds likes a 1980s diesel at idle. Has a loud ticking noise comming from the head. Any ideas what it can be? It has only started in the last few weeks and am a little concerned about that it can be. The engine still goes fine and still hits redline with no issues but when idleing it sounds like a diesel tractor.
Engine is a 4age silvertop.

No, but it interferes with the flux capacitor.

Take the plug off the VVT solenoid and apply 12V to it at idle. The noise should stop with power applied.
