AE111 Brake fluid capacity

Postby wlglevin » Fri Jan 15, 2016 1:02 pm

Hi all

I searched the forums and couldn't find a definitive answer...

I need to do a complete brake fluid flush of my 1995 AE111 Levin (non super strut) and need to know how much fluid I'll need - will a liter be enough?

The fluid the previous owner put in hasn't degraded too much, but I don't know what type it is and I'm replacing it with racing fluid. The new fluid is pricey, so don't want to buy too much but also don't want to run short.

Cheers

A litre will be ample, you'll want to give the lines a thorough flushing out with the new fluid. Realistically, 500ml is enough, but I tend to overkill flush it just to be on the safe side
1988 KE70 Wagon - Slowly rusting
1990 NA6 MX-5 - because reasons
2018 Ranger - Because workcar
1997 FD3S RX-7 Type R - all brap, all the time
OMG so shiny!

Thanks for the info, yes I'd rather flush more than required as well. Was thinking 250ml for each of the rears and 250ml for the fronts.

Do I start with the wheel furtherest away from the master cylinder and then work my way towards the master cylinder?

I used to always have about 250ml left from 2x 500ml bottles when I did my Corolla, and that was with thorough bleeding of each wheel. Even with my Aurion that I only changed/bled on Wednesday I had just under half a bottle left from 2x 500ml's.

Yep, start from the furthest wheel from the master cylinder and work your way forward. So left rear, right rear, left front then right front.
