CAI on 3sgte?

Postby Technohedge » Tue Apr 05, 2016 9:28 pm

Ive read a few things that say that these can give a worthwhile power increase and throttle response (if the intake is positioned correctly)

Its a Caldina GTT. Im not lookin to get huge gains in HP but i would consider modding my stock vehicle for something simple like this if there was a gain to be had

anyone had any experience?

cheers

Not going to do much (unless a munter already put a pod filter that hangs in engine bay).
Factory system is pretty much already cold air intake.
Will increase turbo sound, beyond that not worth it. The aftermarket filter is pretty much always worse (filtering wise) than factory.
Those GTT run pretty high compression, and you don't want to create leaner mixture. Especially if you put 95 in it (vs 98).

If you start screwing around the intake, you will need to consider what you are going to do with ABV (as it is open under light throttle).

P.S. LOL at throttle response suggestion on turbo car :).

Lowering air temps pre-turbo is not the best way to increase power/torque.

A better way would be changing the exhaust for a larger system. There is more gains here than making small changes on the induction side of things.

If you're spending less than $100, I'd go for it and make up your own mind.

I saw an increase in boost and improvement in response on a TT 1JZ, but that was using the biggest pod I could find in a shielded set up, and it already had exhaust done.
