What version is the early 4agze based on?

Postby Paulio » Sun Apr 10, 2016 1:22 pm

I've been searching but I cant find the answer im looking for, AFAIK there are basically 3 versions of the 4agze,

The early AW11 MR2 supercharged version running low compression 8:1

The mid aged AE92 GTZ

And the latter AE101 Levin/Trueno GTZ version running (smallport?) high compression

I have found an AW11 as above that has been sadly parked up for way too long, but some parts may be salvageable.

All the pages seem to state the same thing that the gze is in its own category and it doesnt mention what it is based on.

My question is simply what version of 4age is the early 4agze engine based on, would it be the bluetop or redtop bigport? More specically the ignition system cause thats what I want to raid off it first.

Redtop Bigport.

Why do you want the ignition from the mr2?
It's just a distributor and coil. Only AE92 & AE101 had the CAS & coil pack arrangement.

My old mr2 when bought (stock as a rock)

Yea dude I saw holes of rust in the body and didn't want to look any further, shit was getting pretty emotional by then.
Apparently the engine had done 1000KS since a rebuild before having a minor frontal accident.
May still be salvageable tho?

If water hasn't gotten into places it shouldn't then I don't see why not.
If you're being ruthless with removal you can have engine out in like 30 mins :)
