Hi guys,
Recently bought car for my dad its a Toyota Corolla 2001 XL AUTO. While driving the car at night we noticed that the cluster doesn't show what gear position I am in i.e. PRND2L.
I have checked all the fuse under the driver side kick panel and also checked the fuse under the bonnet but I cant find any blown fuse. Cluster works fine apart from not indication what gear position I am I.
Have tried to take the cluster out but couldn't, instead took the face plate (plastic bit) off the cluster to see if there is a bulb that could be blown but I couldn't see any bulb near the gear position indicator.
Also I noticed that the shifter light wasn't working when head light is on, so when I pulled all the panels i.e. the center console and all the surrounding around the air unit to replace the bulb when I noticed that there was a plug (round female plug) sitting close the shifter but I couldn't find any place to put that in. Could this be the cause of the problem?
What I am trying to understand is what send the signal to cluster to indicate I am in D or R or P? Does anyone here have a a wiring diagram for Corolla 2001? Have tried to look for manual for 2001 Corolla XL but no luck. Can someone here help please?
Thanks guys
