Levin/Trueno Facelift Headlights

Postby BillyTheDog » Fri Apr 07, 2017 10:28 pm

Got an aftermarket front bumper for my AE111, but it requires facelift headlights (12-454... i think?). Does anyone happen to have a pair for sale? I think my car was in a slight front-end ding before I bought it... All the brackets on the headlights are bust... Also is there any difference between the pre-facelift and facelift indicators?

What bumper you got? I had one that was designed to fit facelift, and just modified it around the lights to suit. Google should cover the indicator question, (i'd hate to lead you astray) but from memory you will want to run both headlights and indicators from the same model, as they are at the minimum visually different.

As far as I know, the Facelift Trueno and Levin had the same headlights. Its the Facelift lights that my bumper is designed to fit (12-454). i would rather just replace with the correct lights for the bumper, that to start hacking up my bumper to fit the current lights. Since the mounts for the current lights are all broken, I would need to replace them anyway, so might as well upgrade at the same time aye?

Facelift lights will be the same shape (trueno + levin) but have different colouring, which is why you'd want headlights and indicators as a set if replacing them. I've never done the swap, but I recall seeing mention of the wiring perhaps being different too. So that could be something else to look into. Facelift lights do look better though, for sure.

Spent 2 hours this morning looking around, ringing every parts place in the country to find a set of (matching) headlights. Found a set in Otahuhu, the only set I could find in the entire country, which I picked up. $300! ARGH!!!!! But at least now I have a set of matching headlights, that fit the bumper, and have ALL of the mount intact. A bit of an expensive outlay, but at least I got the lights I wanted and it should pass a WOF now.

As for the wiring, yes the facelift lights are different. They have a separate High and Low beam bulb, where as pre-facelift have a single bulb to do both. If you use the pre-facelift loom, you end up with only running lights and High beam. Has anyone done the wiring on these before? Is it a fairly easy job?

There's a thread over on the AE111 club forum for the PFl -> FL conversion.
