Hey there,
As a bit of a show piece I was thinking of one day getting NOS on the car.
Is there any races (other than drag) which you can use NOS in?
It'd probably actually pointless for me since I want to do mostly time trial style events on the smaller tighter tracks. But maybe sections of Targa perhaps?

If you have the lines and solenoid's in there and take out the bottle,

you wil still not be allowed at MSNZ events.

Yep, according to MSNZ regs, NOS is not an approved 'fuel'. Was considering it as an antilag on my Rover.... :wink:

if you ran nos at the drags on your n/a car you'd be thrown in the 2wd turbo (effectivly 2wd + power adder) theres a chap in wellington whos done that with great sucess..

if you're adding it to your turbo car for the drags, you'd have to run pro import.

Why not just get antilag? That way you get all those exciting pops and bangs to go with it

I wouldn't mind. All the drag racing I wanna do is purely for personal interest (and associated bragging rights). I don't really wanna compete for titles (except for maybe fastest 4AGE/turbo powered AE86), just be faster than my mates down the quarter, and maybe top speed (for and AE86) style runs too.

Oh yeah. And it sounds cool to say, "I've got turbo and a NOS in my AE86..."!!

Two reasons. 1) I can't afford to replace the turbo/manifold every couple of events :wink:

and 2) Anti-lag is banned in Targa

Switch it off for Targa, and just use it when you're going down to the dairy to get some milk. The neighbours will love it. Although, you would want to watch the underbonnet temps if you are sitting in traffic with anti-lag on, as a friend of mine nearly cooked his rally car just waiting for a long time on a start line. Temp went well over 3/4 hot in only a couple of minutes.

I'd love to have anti-lag, but the turbo/manifold replacement issue would be far too costly. Though I do like the 'going down to the dairy' idea. Especially on a Sunday morning :twisted:

lindsay you come up with some strange ideas... how about u get a turbo on your car first?.. and as for having the fastest ae86 around.. lol.. you never will.. and before you say that mine is never on the road.. it is now

and 1/4 tuned hehe.. side note: you probably will go a lot faster if u leave that stupid dog at home.... :wink:

That aside, when it is up and running, you should come down to Taupo and do a Dual Car Sprint, and I will come up. You can take me out for a skid in the beast.

Which two did you want off the ground?

I don't get scared in race cars. Sometimes I think I am going to crash, but mostly that just gives me the giggles. I think the most exciting ride I have been on was in the passenger side with Geoff Argyle in a rally car.

I cannot recomend that experience enough

It's a couple of dollars a second, but definitely worth it.
