funny noises movement with steering/axles

4agze with e52 box.

went on a road trip to hamilton last night, i wasnt driving however.

the car was fine

woke up this morning jumped in, drove off, and i noticed some weird noises and movement from the front passenger side.

basically when the car is in gear, with no throttle (decelerating) the car jumps to the left (literally) the steering wheel juddering to that LHS also.

also when right (into intersections etc) whilst declerating loud noises are heard.

really puzzled about this one.

help much appreciated.

i have a few ideas but want to hear others opinions first :? :cry:

oh i should also mention i took the wheel off, and all hub/steering related items are tight.

Lift up the left front side in the air, put car in neutral, rotate the wheel while looking at the drive shaft, if you hear/feel noise, uneven force + gearbox side of the shaft is moving in not circular manner - congratulations you have destroyed spyder gears inside the diff...
To make sure that you destroyed something inside the g/box - drain little bit of oil. If it is silvery, then, congratulations - gearbox kaput. If not check that CV joints are ok...

fuk it was nothing but average driving!

could the outer c.v joint being rooted cause those problems tho?

gez ive never really done a skid, maybe wheelspun a few times (hey too much torque, what can i say) bu thats it, ohwell, anyone got a e series box?

yea im goin to talk to toyota mechs on monday see what they think, no havent checked it yet. but its not spinning evenly (passenger side)

yes. how do you tell if a cv is bung tho.?

with out taking it apart?

are these the symptoms of a fuked cv or a cv on its way out? it dosent click

Inners click randomly (more often on power-on/off)...
The noise could be due to wheel bearning colapsed aswell.
Jack up the car, try moving the shaft and see if it moves and where it moves, if the spyder gear gone the whole inner cv would have huge play in the gearbox. Check the wheel bearing as well, aslo pull other suspension bits aswell just to make sure it is not loose arm or ball joint.

thanks sergei, ive done what you said, the result halfshaft rotates really unevenly, and i cant see any looses joints, no play on inner cv

ok i took the car into toyota this avo

hoisted it up.

drooped abit of oil, the dude there reckoned it was too thin "like water"

so we dropped the lot

unfortunately there were some filings in the mixture, which was cloudy.

filled it up with shell 75-90 oil and its been sweet since.!

btw it was running valvoline 75-90,

so dont buy that shit!

hopefully its all good and my diff aint to buggered :(

happened agin today twice.

randomly 20 mins into drive 5th gear 80 kph, low throttle,


shudder shudder whilst in gear and in neutral.

pulled over, drove off 10 mins later again, so i went home and it was sweet.

wtf! what a pain in the ass with exams in 4 weeks!

im thinking something is broken internally and its randomly jamming.

it feels like the wheels gonna fall off!

help :cry:

there was some on thursday, but we dropped it and put new oil in.

so i realise the diff wont be as it was when it came out of the factory

but any thoughts on why it was fine for 3 days then shat itself again?
