yep it will go up from 98- 98.7

you need litres and litres of the octane boosters main ingredient, tolulene for it to raise it any significant amount, not a 500ml or so bottle

Very true, the fine went up about 10 times as much though when leaded fuel got booted. Obviously worried a lot of people would try to get around unleaded (particularly for older cars) by using the heavily leaded avgas.
Rumour has it (don't quote me though) that avgas is heading unleaded in other corners of the planet so given the size of the NZ market we are likely to follow suit very soon after. Hate to think what nasty chemicals will replace it though.
Another thing to be aware of, some "racegas" is just re-dyed avgas. Once it reaches a certain shelf life it is no longer allowed to be used in planes (due to octane rating going off with age) and is supposed to be disposed of. Instead of disposing of it they change the colour (so it cannot be mistaken for avgas) and sell it off for race car use. There are often a few other additives but it is still usually cheaper and better to just buy avgas.

Avgas aint going unleaded f00. No one is going to pay the squillions of dollars to convert aircraft to run on unleaded. Aircraft piston engines run technology from 40 years ago because it has been proven to work - they dont like changing stuff in a hurry

They best be leaving the beautiful green gogo juice alone

I know magazines arent known for being the most reliable sources of information, but I read in the latest NZPC mag that av gas will 'rust' your engine :?
Is this correct.
Also heard it will eat carburettor seals etc.
