yeah 24psi in the rears, nearing 40psi in the fronts with 132,000km old suspension is a tad 'floaty' above 170....i actually cross the 1/4 mile marker off the clock....im on the brakes pretty quick once we are done

me (gtz) and a friend (gen1 mr2 turbo) got to 218 following each other, wasn't much left in the gearing for either of us, i'd say another 10-15kmh more max.

I think that you would find that your potential top speed woud *decrease* without a spoiler - The spoiler is there to reduce drag, as opposed to create downforce.

Well, at least in a well designed, wind tunnel tested sports car. :)

However, I wonder if this is true for the SW20? As those guys who did that land speed record run in the SW20 took the spoiler off the back. Unless it was originally an SW21, and didnt come with a spoiler in the first place?

Im confused now. :?

That's around 240/260....(there are variables... wheel size, chicken width etc) Ie, $&#$% fast.

well my ae101 levin has reached 242km/h, i've got apexi RSM and made sure all tyre sizes are correct! (still doesn't make it 100% correct) without the RSM it hit speed cut in 4th gear very easily!
but ae101 gtz's are very tall geared!
still at 242km/h it had a bit more to go! my car doesn't have a rear spoiler!

Were you scared?

nah it was coming into hamilton on a straight piece of road, not sure if the front veilside kit had anything to do with it but it stuck to the ground like glue, the car got to the 5th gear rev limit pretty fast to, i'm sure it could have gone further if it wasn't for the gearbox maxxing out! i was over taking some new HSV on a one of those big passing lanes you guys have up north and he decided to be a smart c*nt and put his foot down when i was beside him, so did i. i also have 16''s as well all round.

CozmoNz wrote:well, they have the gearing for it. just like ae111's. which is a bad idea in an engine with not that much torque (3sge vs 3sgte... no toruqe :P).

top speed of an ae111 is like 240kph? the gearing can take it there, the engine cant :). so i guess its probable.... i dont belive its standard... hey AL, could your sw20 do 255ish?

195kph in my bzg trueno when it cuts is only 186kph according to my gps thing but... at the speed cut it is still pulling fine so i recon it could get to 240 with enough road

Fastest i've driven a car would be 250ish, down a "private" country road, in a reasonably worked series 5 RX7. It had gone off the clock, round past zero, sitting just under 40kmh indicated. All I remember is sitting pinned in 5th gear, with the overrev "beeeeeeeeping", watching the trees fly past me.. Rotaries are too damn fast!

The car in my avatar, an RS13 (nz new 180sx) I had maxed out almost off the 240km/h clock, seemed to get to 235ish then run out of puff.. pretty good for a 1.8 turbo with exhaust, filter and boost.

that honestly wouldnt surprise me. me ae111 hits speed cut in 4th easy as and 5th still pulls more than enough to get to 240ish in my some what useless opinion. im in the process of taking out the speed cut in my car (ne quick ways id love to know, im guessing theres just a swith on the back of the speedo) and when ive done that ill do some runs with gps on a relativly flat road and let u know what the results r
