NOT A MONEY ISSUE BUT POWER..

Postby twin_turbo_4age » Tue May 24, 2005 1:25 pm

A N/A 4AGE CAN NOT COMPETE WITH A VTEC OR MIVEC ENGINE LET ALONE A V8 OR TURBO 4CYL..

4AGE NEED AROUND 350-400HP TO MAKE IT COMPETITIVE...

I WAS THINKING 3SGTE FIRST BUT TOO MUCH DISPLACMENT.

EFFECTIVE REV RANGE IS UP TO AROUND 8,000 MAYBE A TAD MORE. NEED TO MAKE AS MUCH POWER AROUN D THERE AS POSSIBLE. BUT I ALSO NEED THE ENGINE TO LAST FOR MORE THEN 1 RACE.

HUMM.. A 302W IN A AE92.. WOUNDER IF IT WOULD FIT?

You are going to need to fork out the doH to be able to push a 4AGE to those kind of figures.....

well thats been proven wrong time and time again.

if your dead keen on 400hp... you are looking at a $15-20k engine.... if its to last.

actually not really...

Postby twin_turbo_4age » Tue May 24, 2005 2:13 pm

if we are talking about the world of racing, and 4age vs mivec mirage/ vtec civic the 4age has no where near the same acceleration or power.

my ae101 used to be beaten by automatic primeras..... enough said..

then what should i use?
can i fit a v6 in an ae92?
maybe even a v8? or should i go a bit different and use like a 4efte???

7mgte vs 4age... plus ould be power minus would be weight.. but would not break like the 4ags do in race situations..

could i use a fwd gearbox on the 7mgte?

rememebr this is not road leagl..

No...

1. You are going to have a hell of allot of trouble fitting a 7M in an AE92 chassis.

2. What sort of FWD box were actually planning on putting behind a 7M :?

3. 7M can give you just as much problems as a 4AGE in a raceing situation if you don't prep the engine properly.

You might need to study up a bit more about cars and engines before you take on a project such as this and planning on racing circuit/track...

never done jap before...

Postby twin_turbo_4age » Tue May 24, 2005 2:56 pm

i am used to racing fesitas with 1000c cvh and escorts with rs turbo motors in them.

comming from europe where jap is rare like a pretty french girl.

would a 3tgtue be any good.
my dads mate owns a scrap yard so i can get cheapish engines and parts.
i know in england we fit the xr3i with the 2.5L mondeo v6 and use 2x rs turbo turbo's which makes approx 290-300hp on 6-7psi .

i do perfer all motor but turbo helps ya win races.

the other bodies i have open to me are: a rwd celica, a rwd starlet and a mk3 supra. i like the ae92 cause all the work is done as it was a rally car before i got it for $500nz.

i just need an engine which i can have 350-400hp that is not going to break, i would accept 250-300hp if it were under 2000cc with the 1.4x rule in place.

I'd personally go for the 3T in the RWD Celica. You will still need a good amount of money for prepping and getting it all set up and running though...

I would suggest that you go and sit down and do some extensive research on the chassis and engine you want to use as a combination in a race car.

Ultimately you can't really build a race according to what people post on a forum as we are not racing it. You need to know what is going to be suitable for your needs and what sort of potential the 'chosen' motor is capable of.

Then you need to evaluate costs of the project against your budget and start going from there...

Not to be mean or anything but it doesn't seem like you do have a hell of alot of knowledge about motors...you're shooting in the dark at the moment. :?

Oh yeh bro, just get da 7M and run it FWD, it'll be fully sik bro, you just need to remove the chassis rails to fit it man!!!!!

Look if you're asking if you can put in a 7M-GTEU in a FWD, you really shouldn't be looking at building a race car.

Obviously a 7M will never fit in a FWD, it is obviously far too long.

Before you said you wern't alowd to use injection, then you said that you think you'd use carbs because your engine didn't come with a computer?

Then you want to run a twin turbo setup on a 1600, giving you 800cc per turbo and you could only use tiny turbo's. You say you want less lag by running 2 turbo's, but in a race car lag isn't much of a concern, because you keep it at high revs the whole time anyway.

Why also are you typing only in capital letters? Is your keyboard broken? You can go and buy a new one for about $16, cheap!

Carbs or efi..

Postby twin_turbo_4age » Tue May 24, 2005 3:21 pm

I will need to sit down and read up a bit.

7mgteu should fit, if running a tube front. as tube chassies are fine.

reason why i am running carbs not efi is because of class rules. allow no efi is gt2/3/4, since my engine didnt actually come with a computer makes it easier to swap over.

anyone know anything about the 4t-gte?

you imangie comming from a country where the only jap cars we get are little economy hatches called micras. where our idea of performance is sohc 8v pinto, 205gti and saxo engines.

i could build a mean 205gti but know nothing about jap engines. its called been a little different.

All the more reason to study up on the engine before using it in a race application...

I can't see anything in the class definitions( http://www.osca.co.nz/Classes.htm ) that overides the Technical Regs which state;
5.4 Induction System
Intake manifold is free.

Engines of 4501cc capacity and above shall be fitted with one Holley type carburettor of up to four bores with a maximum throttle bore size of 44.45mm.

For all other engine types the carburettors or fuel injection are free.

The admission of additives (including water) to the engine intake system is prohibited.

Am I missing something, or haven't you read the rules properly?

how bout sr20det? h22a? why do you want small displacement while you say your racing v8's and so-on.
you cant know all thise engines an then be so thick to not understnad the work involved.
