Cut springs are not legal, and can't be certed.

But compressed springs are legal without certification provided they were professionally compressed.

I'm inclined to trust every certifier I rang over what you think is true, backed up by an online document with barely any clarification.

You'll also notice in your document it indicates that "replacement springs must not be heated of cut", now if you compress your factory springs, then that means they aren't "replacement springs" are they...so that doesn't apply...??

Don't bother trying to change my mind, I'm not going to, and I doubt you are either.

This is true. I would think all places would give you a warrent as long they were captive.

Yeah, but how do you tell if it was a backyard job or a job done at a proper shop?

No clear way to tell really, chances are you'd never get pulled up on backyard job compressed springs either...

You need a shop to compress them because otherwise they lose their springiness, cos u have to heat treat them after.

my old car has cut springs, they remained captive, never had a single hassle with warrents, as long as they aren't flopping around or blatantly obvious that they are chopped the warrent people don't seem to care, so they chances of beng pinged on compressed springs are slim to none
