not totally correct, if you've got crap tires it's harder to avoid accidents.

I totally disagree. The Hankooks I put on felt absolutely dangerious. The excessive wall movement made the car feel like it was fish-tailing when ever a sudden movement was made. How often does someone pull out on you in Auckland traffic?

There is no way I am going to risk writing off my car, injuring myself or my friends for the sake of saving a few hundred dollars on tyres.

I had hankook tyres on the front until yesterday and had to change them when they failed a warrent. Got some direzzas put on and the difference is very noticeable. it feels so much safer when cornering. The hankooks especially struggled in the wet so i cant wait for a bit of rain to see what the direzzas will be like.

Beaurepairs have the direzzas (185/60/14) for $135 a tyre at the mo but i went to Tonys and got them $130 inc install, balance etc

That is ture but in some cases bad tires and good tires can be the difference between stopping or crashing. Also cheap tires will probley wear faster as the rubber is not consistant and they are known to sepperate in the steel causing the tire to be usless.
