Surely its not that much cheaper - matt's price above comes to 1200 plus an aftermarket ecu which from what I've been able to find will cost at least a grand, which takes you pretty close to the 2500 that its cost to covert the gze?
(as long as you can use the gze ecu)

I'm not saying that its the way to go tho, if you rebuild a 20v with new gear you're better off than with some old thrashed gze that cost the same amount.

LOL,

If you think you can do a GZE transplant for $2500 inc the purchase of the motor....

I have wired up a few std GZE ecu's and the cost of wiring a std ECU is about 1/2 the price of the link.

You always have to shag around and buy and modify p/s pies and make alt mounts etc etc as nothing fits.

and at the end of the day it's still a s/h engine running on a crap(ish)
ECU. 9/10 loose a/c and look a mess under the bonnet and never run 100% right.

The 20V way you use just about all the 20V stuff including the wiring loom,
keep your p/s and ac/ if you wish, dont have to make mounts and have all the stress of trying to track down parts.

Ask someone who has done a 20V to GZE conversion and ask tham the Total build time and price?

But at the end of the day evenone can do whatever the hell they want.

You sir are correct.

I should have listened to ya all :p.

Im still trying to sort out the p/s, and yup, I lost a/c (wasnt going to work).

And its still not done :(

No reason not too i guess, same problems with it.

That motor is used alot in USA i think, and I belive there are even off the shelf turbo kits for it over there.

Most 4afe cars have the "crappy" bits, like drum end brakes etc. Thats a big reason to start with a better model, (which most have 4ag's in them, instead of the 4af's).

But nah, if you sort out the problems with the acutal car being "lower class" (assuming you have a xz or something) then there is nothing REALLY agaisn't the fe. Like I said, same basic things, throw new pistons in, (maybe rods, dunno about fe's), lower c/r (through pistons hopefully), bolt on a turbo, sort out computer and maybe acc systems like fuel and cooling.
