I measured a RX7 FC3S wheelbase and they only 50mm longer than AE86 8O AE86 are 2400mm and RX7 2450mm.

S13 Silvia are like 12" longer!.. also believe R33 are much are longer!

o.k going to stocks this week to sort some stiff shocks out and some rangi coilovers in the front with short shocks, gana replace all the bushings etc..

The reason why im building my car is not to be the best but to have fun, id like to be compititive also tho,

I guess well have to see how i go, nissians are easy and cheap to build thats why they do better,

but by far will not have the class or style as a chaser jzx81 or cressida or z20 soarer.

Cummon people start building some slide machines!

r u sure ?

have u lifted a 13b ?

i can quite happily stand there with a 13b gripped between my arms no proplem.

and i dout many ppl couple hold a 1uz.

rota motors are very small yes they do weight a bit but not a hell of alot. the weight of a 12a is quite similar to a 2k.
and a 13b is a few kg's heavyer than a 12a.

no grip = no win ..
loose cars are slow cars .. its all about grip

ae86 is competitive just harder to start with ...

there are 7 toyotas in the current series .. we will top 8/16 in basically every round we enter. .. if there were more of them it would look like they are better

And don't set a tyre on the track without doin good suspension upgrades otherwise you'll look like a penismunch. 1Gs make bad power for what they are but as long as everythings tight and is running top notch then you should be able to get the boat sliding easy peasy.

Good tip also is: Pretend the walls aren't there.

many many reasons why there are so many nissans, and why nissans dominate.

they started off to be cheap cars, buy a hax cef for 500$, build your drifter for 2500$ and be set.
now every man and his dog wants one, so the prices have jumped insanely, along with spare parts.

Seeing how loose these nissans are is quite, well, amazing.
someone tell me what "good factory setup" results in a car that is so so so easy to loose rear grip. no wonder they get stacked into powerpoles.

In *theory* it shouldnt matter if your toyota car isnt as capable as a nissan, is there not a component in the judging scheme relating to this!

its rumored that a couple of nissans will be running toyota engines shortly, maybe this may turn people to the dark side 8)

that said D1NZ is so $&#$% lame id rather most of the nissan/rotor fanfucks stayed there.

(no offence to those who are actualy decent people, ie those who have a brain)

lots of talk on a forum like this. lots of people saying they want to drift.

go to a nissan forum and people are buying and fitting lsds and coilovers and asking when next open day is.

you can build a beater toyota for 2500.
sure the nissan can power over... but who cares.. just start driving fast (not stupid, just fast).

disappointing these posts.... this forum. I'm over it.

obviously what i have said has come across the wrong way - what i meant was at the moment every young kid with a RWD thinks hes a drifter, hey ive got a few mates like that myself!
and what i meant with the fad is 'drift style' everything: ie bodykits, wheels etc

i actually like watching drifting and have nothing against those that do it (as a sport, not as being a tard on the street)

hope that clears things up?

and also this thread is about asking how to set a car up for drifting, can we try steer it back on topic please :)

i went to a CCC drift committee meeting last month, and we were establishing a format for 'drift south' which will be a SI competition. during that meeting certain suspension mods were to be banned, basically rendering most properly sorted race cars a banned substance. when i asked 'why can i not run a modified 5-link rear?', the answer can back as 'why would you want to gain traction, drifting is all about losing rear end grip'. the consenus now is that the cars need to be a more like a track car (geometry wise), and make the tyres (ie grip imbalance) do the work.
I've been a bad bad boy. I should read the rules and behave before I get spanked by an admin

fangsport:

it's not really an imbalance of the tires... good drivers will run the best tires they can get that remain in the rules. Street tires, no slicks.
And instead of pushing front&rear to limit like race car, you push the front to limit and rear to just over limit. (maybe i intrepreted you incorrectly)

However, apart from those drifting on a the track and a select few, the majority think that it's about having slippery rear like the committee people.
