On the weekend i confirmed the knock sensor is plugged in, and i also pulled the vvt solenoid and put 12v across it, and it made a clicking noise and spluttered some oil onto my arm, so i assume that means the solenoid is working?

Spoke with warwick on saturday morning and he seemed fairly certain the ECU may be at fault. I made a thread in parts for sale asking for a spare ecu I can borrow to test with.

I also replaced the following parts:
Rocker cover (my one had a big crack by one of the nuts holding it down)
Rocker cover gasket (old one just had liquid gasket sealing it - wtf previous owenr?)
The seals for the sparkplug boots and also the seals for where the bolts poke through the cover to hold it down

Doesnt seem to have a better idle after swapping all that out, i thought maybe there would be an vac leak somewere through all that.

Just to confirm, redwire/blacktrace is the GROUND on the vvt, and blackwire/redtrace is the +12V ?

cheers
cogent
