yep thats what i use

G/B for me is normaly done when i can be bothered about the 30,000k`s mark but alot of people do any were up to 150,000k on it
it dousent get dirty ect so theres no real need to do it but it douse get thinner after alot of uses

already answered...... it will be too thin

Can't say I'd agree with that. I use 0w40 or 10w30 Mobil 1 in all my 3S-GTEs, none of them burn any oil and they range from 30-140,000kms.

So is it fine for me to use Castrol Edge Sport 5W-30 Fully Synthetic? My car has done 110,000kms.

Can't see any reason why not. I think that is actually the manufacturers recommended grade of oil.

Basically, the thinner the oil is cold the more quickly it will protect your engine/turbo on start up and that's the only real difference.

I would go with 5-10W(inter) and the other rating depends on the operating conditions 30-40 is where it's at for street use and at the end of the day as long as you maintain your car and don't rape it to redline from startup most oils will suffice.

There is also nothing wrong with using factory specs, they've put a whole lot of millions/billions into making shit work within defined limits.

Just thought I would update as service is due again.
This time I got Castrol Edge 10W-60 for '97 Gt-t with 83,000kms.
I was looking at the 5W-30 Edge but thought the -60 would be more suited for the long trips (I drive to Auckland occasionally) where high temperatures would be reached.
Rather expensive oil though...
