Genuine Toyota also match crank to block to devise a color coded scheme of bearing sizing. There are either three or four different genuine sizes for the 42mm crank. I havent used this scheme myself however as I run ACL, one size fits all, race bearings.
The answer is Helmholtz!

My diagnosis was right, sucks to hear though dude. But yeah would pay to get that crank checked out first, no use putting in new bearings with a distorted crank.

Yea i got told to do the crank as well to be safe... Just gotta find a crank from somewhere, but also, i got under the car, theres a few bolts for the sump thats behind like a cover, looks like it might be part of the gear box, is it safe to take whatever it is out, looks like 12 or 13 ml size... Im certain its bell housing or something but dont wanna do it just incase....

Just a thought - maybe you should just bite the bullet and buy a complete 20v, they are probably cheap as chips these days. Save you all the labour/costs of trying to find/fit a new crank, new bearings etc...

I found putting an engine in easier than a lot of other mechanical work. If you have a garage, axle stands, a socket set and ring spanners you could have a go yourself. Hire a block and chain or an engine hoist for a few days and do it over the weekend.

It is time consuming, but provided the engine is a straight swap it's not really that difficult. Do some research and get a friend whose pulled an engine before to help out.

tru never thought of hiring and engine hoist... its a straight swap, 4age being replaced with another 4age... i reakon i probably could do it myself, providing i did a bit of research on the engine, i dont have a garage, but have a car port and the tools, just not hoist but can hire that. Be alot cheaper than a mechanic too. Will have a look at pricing for 1, thanks for the idea
