Thanks for getting the pic but I really can't make out what you've done. Im guess its a very short straight pipe going into the down pipe with no flexi and at a 90 degree angle?

If so, did you have any issue with boost spike or anything? I would have thought that having it at a 90 deg angle to the exhaust flow, it'd restict?

yep.

you'd need to clear the engine bay to reduce risk of fire(have you seen how much flames come out of that shit) ,and why you would ever want that racket behind your head is anyones guess :?

Having it that close to the turbo, on that angle i reakon you would lose power. It would create alot of turbulence and kinda defeats the purpose of having an external gate, its pretty much doing a similar job to what the internal was doing.

no mate if the piping was going at a reverse angle ten it would create such a problem (turbluence) also an external is far more effiecient than a standard w/g and easier to setup/montior

it is still turbulent in there as it interfears with the exhaust coming out the turbine, it "should" be plumbed back in as far down as you can, i've read at least 18inchs or something, and at a good angle of entry, ie 45 or less.

"IDEALLY"

yanks have proven it in their hondas

i think the issue is exhaust exiting behind rearmost passenger door, in am mr2 there would be no issues there. only concern would be setting engine bay on fire if it didnt completely clear it.

Get a 40MM short flexi.

They dont make 38mm ones. Easy to get 40mm it to fit to 38mm pipe.

It may have been 42mm, i had the same problem as you. I got mine from chase automotive supplies.

Failing that i have a 200mm 38mm flexi for $30 you can have. Brand new

My 2 has the wastegate sticking out the 'hood' and pointing towards the rear. have failed warrant with it twice, can't be arsed arguing with them so just remove it and put a plate on the flange for WOF.

The argument of 'dual exhaust just like a V8 usually gets them thinking' but technically an exhaust system must include a muffling device. which i am considering because it is F*ing loud (about 3 feet behind my head) will be worse if i ever get the lexan in.
