QQ: Cheap/easy/legit way to lower ee80 4dr hatch?

true that. How about just getting the struts machined down say 30mm. This will get the car slightly lower and stiffen up the suspension somewhat. Not sure if its legal without a cert or not though.

And if they are the original springs? A good lawyer could probably have a lot of fun with that one - if you had the money.

yeah leave the springs standard. just machine 30 or 40 mm off the top off the insert where the insert goes through the top hat. as long as the car doesn't go lower than 100mm, suspension still retains sufficient travel etc etc
or if the budget allows replace the insert with a direct bolt in replacement that has a shorter stroke

But what is the point of doing something half assed when it costs the same or more to do it properly , the guy was asking for a cheap way to do it anyways.
