I have heard that ds3000 are very hard on rotors and take longer to heat up than the Mintexs. Although I dotn know if the ds3000 are more comparable to the 1666s or the new 1177 compound.

I run slotted brembos with my 1166s in my Ae111 club car and they seem ok. The 1166s do get eaten up quickly in track use. Though I have been through two sets of front pads and am yet to change the rears.

From memory 1166 front pads including backing plates are around 280, rears around $200. I know Neil got some recently.

Am currently trying Ferodo DS2000's and loving them both for track and road, not quiet as hard on the rotors as M1166's and a bit cheaper too as there available off the shelf.

For real?, I used ebc reds at Manfield and they were mint, smoked like a mofo when i pulled into the pits but zero brake fade. Others i know use them for track and had no issues?.

Id use em again for sure!

They don't take any time to heat up, one corner moderately braked is all you need. They may be reasonably hard on rotors, but I run a standard rotor and a front set costs about 10% of the pads cost, so not a concern at all. I figure i'll get about 800 race km on the pads at the current wear rate, and maybe use 2 pairs of rotors.
This is on factory calipers and rotors and driving on slicks, so bigger brakes would probably make things last longer.

Some glossy ds3000 info
They seem to have a higher friction co-efficient than anything else by lots.

running endless ccx in my car (although it has loads of braking performance and only 850kg) I like them as they do work a bit from dead cold and don't squeal unless you a pushing it REALLY hard at the track.. but don't forget about good fluid.. i'd suggest something like motul (thats what i use) but it all comes down to the desired use of the car.
current cars:
Evo 4 230Kw atw
1971 mini.
79 bugeye 245kw atw.
Evo powered mx5 under construction

And if you do a lot of track work, bleed them regulary,

not just to get the air out, but to change fluid.

I bleed my race car before every event, and after qualifying and race 1, before the last two races.
Keeps the pedal hard and braking consistant,

but for a road car probably just best to do it before a trackday.

Last lot of M1166's I got cost me $225. The DS2000 I got cost me $198

Bought both from Racebrakes.

Also recommend using a good fluid and getting a brake master cylinder stopper, makes a huge difference.

I've got Mintex 1166 on my ae92 track toy and DS2000 on my WRX daily drive which has been to the track, both sweet, DS2000 better for road though, have to remember to let the mintex warm up...

Using Bendix GCTs and Znoelli Slotted/Drilled discs for road.
Got Endless pads for the track with same discs.

Rears I'm currently using Remsa Pads (Dusty!!!)

Used to use EBC Greenstuff for road/track but they were noisey and dusty.
