Yeap, good advice. Did all of those things too.
My engine bearings lasted 600klm from new.

Oil pressure is your friend - so too are good engine builders.

you can buy microfibre cloths that are really good for this job as they actually attract any fine dust to them

What do you guys use to clean everything?
I pulled an old engine apart over the last few weeks, and finally decided to get round to cleaning everything. I’ve found that my latex gloves don’t mix with petrol very well.
And do you use anything different if it is an old part and you are removing 10 years of crud build up, to new parts that you are just making sure are clean before install?

I just chuck all my old dirty as bits in the kero bath at work.
It leaves a residue though, so before reassembly, I'd say clean bits with something else.

and the turbo bearings run dry for a bit at a higher speed than if you were cranking it with the starter motor. hmm.

each to their own - just like with "run-in procedures kms etc etc"

I just bought some from the warehouse last week. Same stuff you buy from repco, albeit I got them for washing my cars not for engine parts cleaning.

Don't know if there are 'grades' of quality for them, if so you would want something towards the "good end" no doubt
