it took me a while to get used to because if i heard the screamer i knew the boost controller was working haha. now i just trust it. i had to get it plumbed in for my cert also.

Hmmm - I hear ya, but I REALLY like the way mine sounds. It doesn't just sound like a screaming wastegate, it sounds like a loud turbo 6 :)

I might plumb it in for now - and if I don't like it, I'll see how much it'll cost (and if it'll be legal n all that) to run a seperate exhaust for the w/g

many of the SI drift guys run a separate pipe to the rear. i guess there must be pro's and con's for both separate and plumb back

Looking good - but I'd rather it be legal in any configuration....

As suspected - if I were to run a separate exhaust for the wastegate it would have to be muffled/silenced, so better off just plumbing it in

Just unsure how my current crap exhaust would handle it be plumbed in. I think there's too much back pressure as it is lol

plumb it in after the first muffler/resonator??

I think it's the last muffler that'll be letting me down - as its not a straight through jobbie and makes my car pretty quiet and it wasn't a top range one lol

I'll get it plumbed in after the first resonator - least that way I should get a little sound/pitch difference maybe.....

My wastegates in ST165 are plumbed back in about 30cm down the turbo, and definitely there is a huge difference (sounds twice louder and completely different timbre) in noise when the waste gates open.

I guess the turbo deadens some of the sound....?

have you got any videos (with sound lol) of your car as it his full boost and the w/g opens?

sorry no videos.

But in words, before wastegate opening there is a normal muffled hum+turbo whistle, when it opens it screams like a rally car.

But I have stock steel CT20b.

I also pulled all the wiring before getting married, got married and haven't touch my car in ages. So technically it does not make any noise at all.
