10w40 Valvoline Durablend
for gearbox/dif etc HP Gear Oil LS90

this is what i just went and bought:
5L Valvoline VR-1 Racing 10w/40
6L Valvoline HP Gear Oil 75w/90 (for gearbox)
2L Valvoline HP LS90 (for diff)
Havn't got brake fluid yet, but going to get some Dot5 stuffs
xsspeed wrote:pretty sure if you want a high dot rating don't get 5 but get 5.1
something about dot 5 absorbing more moisture if keft for a while = boiling in brakes = no brakes
I am sure someone will be able to confirm this.

Better get Synthetic diff oil they have lower in the list for the rear diff:
Valvoline Heavy Duty Synthetic Gear Lubricant SAE 75W/90
Your diff does not need LSD Oil (LS90) unless it has mechanical (clutch pack) aftermarket unit. ST205 has Torsen at the back which is just whole bunch of helical gears (instead of clutch pack), hence you are better off using high quality hypoid oil without LSD additives.

will it really make that much of a difference? i have the oil now (on your advice by the way).
HP Gear Oil LS90 will be wrong oil for gearbox and diff.
it is designed for differential with mechanical LSD.
ihavelift wrote:Yup have 10w40 for engine and GL5 for gearbox, I should just be able to use the ls90 for the diff though shouldn't i?
and yup I'll look into getting some Dot5.1, but definately not Dot5 is that right? Spoke to a guy who worked in a Toyota workshop, he said definately Dot 5. Jeebus i'd give anything for just a straightforward answer haha
ihavelift wrote:damage the paint?!?! $&#$% i'm such a noob ... so excust question ... but that won't matter, as long as you're not a spaz and spill it on the car ... right?
EDIT: and what about the Nulon engine oil flush?
