Indeed. Often with the likes of Blacktop 20V motors, you even need to drop the timing back a bit even when running on 98.

If the O2 sensor is busted, you can heat them up with a butane torch and it can bring them back to life.

I wouldn't think it's that though. You just need to accept the fact the car will use that much gas in town.

Dude seriously??? 8O

My GF's auto '98 323 does 10l/100km around town and I think that's appaulling.

Yes Mazda's tend to smell very rich when cold.

Not that it's a similar car to the Caldina GT4; but my 98 GTT does:
* 10km/L with a mix of town & open road driving.
* 12km/L open road / long trips (slightly less since I got ultra sticky tyres).
* 8km/L is the worst I've had (but geez was it fun).

90% of the time I get 10km/L or better - using the turbo reasonably frequent to get up to speed.

my caldina GT-T is shocking on gas lately, so its time for mega service
mind you it hasent been driven for months.....

Caldina GT-T's and Caldina GT4's have exactly the same motor, and im guessing similar weight, but the GT4 should be a bit more aerodynamic and maybe lighter one would hope/assume
