Technically not true ;). All you need is a flat head screwdriver (or even a credit card or long finger nail) to push the tab up underneath the 'lock'. The cable tie will freely come loose as long as the tab remains pressed.

The lvvta code say this:

So in relation to the lvvta its legal as it DOES require tools to modify part (a). And it cannot be modified from inside the vehicle part (b).

And in relation to the virm. It comes down to interpretation. The fact un-doing a bolt is could be defined as "readily interferable" is open for debate. Its just as easy as unbolting the exhaust if you really want to make some noise. But when you consider there example a bolt shouldn't be defined as readily interferable.

My thinking would be that as the lvvta code is more detailed its clearly legal....



The LVV definitions have nothing to do with a warrant. If you have a removable silencer then its clearly "constructed or modified that its
operation or effectiveness can be readily interfered with"
so.... fail

Looked at my build log? Hardly describe it as "ricer". (unless of course a 1600cc engine instantly means ricer to you)

And I'm sure if you asked anyone that was at MM it doesn't sound ricer.

$1800 for an exhaust? probably the person in japan with lots of money that originally purchased it. It cost me not much more than your straight pipe and ive got a machine welded full stainless system. And was much cheaper for me than getting a system slapped together here...

Therefore the rules are flawed.

As you CAN get an exhaust cert with a bolt in baffle.

And if you have an exhaust cert you can then get a WOF.

Yet the WOF code says you "should" fail.
