Checked your spark plugs? could be the wrong heat range and when it gets hot they preignite?

Also a boost gauge would be a good idea just to confirm it is running factory boost

Heat rating is correct for the BKR6EIX. I have no mods on the car, Stock Everything :-)

Boost Gauge, yeah I must get one :-) Anyone got a spare?

auto gauge from repco is generally around $30 when they run their specials. They're crap but theyll give a reasonable indication of what its running within 1-2psi.

So I took out my fuel pump relay and put a spade over the pins to bypass this :-)

It seems to boost hard more often than it used to so im thinking it's the fuel pump :-)

Cant wait to get the pump and fit it when it arrives ^_^

So.... if its working fine at the moment then how is it a fuel pump issues????

It's intermittent. The fuel relay decides to run at half cycle or full depending on your foot.

Ive run it on full cycle to keep it on par with whatever I'm doing and it seems to boost well SOMETIMES, but sometimes it retards itself. So I'm assuming the fuel pump is having issues

Pre-ignition is not detonation and does not ping.

That is the plug for the injector ballast so leave that one plugged in. The othe alloy module right next to the one you have just shown is the fuel pump resistor :)

By doing this you are eliminating the resistor, as long as you are bridging across Blue/Orange to Blue/Black wires 8) It does sound like you are having fuel pressure issues and I would look into that.

Wow didn't see that coming! Thats a really wiered thing to have happen. Is yours a usdm spec one? I know youre not supposed to but i used to run mine on gull force 10 when i lived in auckland and it loved it. Used to run so much better! I wonder if yours may have a had the compression raised at all at some point? Maybe just a head skim taken slightly too far....

That has been on my mind ever since :-S hmmm, I should change the timing back up to 10* instead of 8* as the car feels really sluggish now....

Next on list: Replace cat with down pipe, free up exhaust, manifold, MAYBE a BOV. Internal BOV seems to be real quick :-) Sigh... Although I am looking at buying a VW R32 :-S Whats wrong with me?

what internal bov? st185 A2A didn't come with a bov/dump valve. Unless you are making noises in the cabin when you drive.

Weird :-S thanks for the info! Well when I accelerate I hear a jet engine noise and then I take my foot off the pedal it makes a loud psh sound?

Thats just turbo chatter/flutter, caused by the air pressure built up in your intercooler, as the throttle closes and the air has no where to go, but back through the turbo.

It is alot more audible with an aftermarket pod filter, the factory airbox is designed to quieten the intake noises

Ahhh ok, yeah I do know about that but it just makes a pshhh sound and not a flutter, which is good I think. Maybe it is time to get a BOV to eliminate this then :-)

Is there like kits you can get to put it in-between the IC and Turbo?

Most people just weld the BOV adapter onto the bit of piping between the turbo and intercooler, just need to do abit of research with what BOV you are going to run if you want to vent to atmosphere as some will cause the car to run abit rough as they muck up the AFM.

Thanks mate! :-) I have found a place where I can get a T-Piece hose that will connect inbetween my IC and turbo and might just a Super Sequential and set it to really tight apparently :-)

Appreciate EVERYONES HELP. 100% happy with car, just brought 2x aftermarket fans and fan controller to keep the car cooler :-) 1. for IC 1. for radiator ;-)

I struggle to believe it. There's about a 10mm gap between the intercooler pipe and the turbo. The average bov is around 40-50mm?? If you lift up the intercooler id be surprised it didn't hit the bonnet with that much clearance. Just get a engineer to weld on the adaptor. It cost me $50 before I learnt how to tig.
