I'm aiming for 300kw at the flywheel.
I was taught to aim high

300kw at the fly is on the limits of the gze pistons reliably, ie, wont last as long as youd hope, you wanna buy a set of my arias pistons, for long term reliability, and mega power. Also the rods will be right on the end as well, youll want to look at crower or preferbly pauter.

It should be possible to get 300kw out of the ht18 with a larger comp wheel. Your probly just gonna be out of gtr injectors into rx7's.

No fwd box is gonna like you in 3rd gear up, and a t50 will no doubt not last too long.

Time to spend some money bro, 300kw isnt really that easy, 250kw, like matt said, isnt too hard at all

Well if you aim high you wont necessarily get that but you will get somewhere near it

its not really an aim if you have no intention of meeting or exceeding it

Earlier in this post mister2 stated
"multi-throttle turbo's are difficult to tune and will require a very expensive ECU if you want it to drive nicely."

Can somebody please tell me why????
I would have thought if the ECU was getting an accurate stable vacuum/pressure signal then there wouldnt be a problem
With the MAP sensor working off a correctly dampened feed from multiple runners I cant see why it would be an issue
Lets see some opinions (and hopefully some facts) on that

It isn't a problem with having an accurate stable MAP signal, more a resolution issue. Example - going from 80% throttle to 100% throttle on a multi-throttle car will be f*ck all difference in MAP but significantly different fueling requirements. If you can't change your load-zone boundaries (eg most cheaper ECU's) then this will result in you having to be rich at lower throttle openings than necessary (eg cruise) resulting in not as nice a car to drive. MoTeC's can do it nicely using a TPS overlay.

It isn't a problem if it's a race car because you obviously don't care about part-throttle driving as much.

We've just tuned an RB30DE-T88 which had GTR multi throttles on it, and part throttle was a pig. Going to a big single throttle and plenum resulted in a much nicer car to drive, on a Link LEMv5.

Sorry to hijack the thread, if anyone wants to continue this, start another one.

Cheers

Good to see you don't have an ulterior motive for reccomending upgraded internals.

imo they are overkill.
stock ze ones can handle 20+ psi and 300hp
and honestly, whos got a 4agte on the street that can do more than that?

the gze pistons should be fine, i was running 18psi and over 200kws at the wheels easy.
The only time the the gze piston might let go is when u start track racing it and the temps will climb and climb where the piston will prob get too hot.

only thing if u get any detonation with gze pistons they wont last long at all as I found out twice

My car is gonna be a weekend car, but mainly used for drag racing.
So the pistons should be fine as long as everything is sweet with fuel etc as in no lean outs.

just out of curiosity, not bagging you, i'm assuming this is FWD, why do you want so much power, when you are going to struggle so much for traction even with 200kw atw? just a bit of bragging rights, or do you seriously wana try go 12sec 1/4miles, because alot less than 300kw will get you that.

just curious, and crnkin, have you actually built this misterious 4agte you talk about?

mister2: that's where ms is useful. I can still run speed density on itb's with good results.

I call it: "exponentional map->load relationship" ;)

That would help, MS's are good ecu's. How do you find part throttle boost AFR's?

good, part throttle, full throttle, whatever it's tuned for that's what it runs. :)

turbo single throttle is pretty straight forward... can get a little interesting when a big turbo is "coming on" but that's nothing compared to ITB tuning.
