8O that is SO true! - cept many aw's are -cheap, fast, unreliable, complete biatch to work on- (the last 2 are a bad combination:P:P wicket cars though:twisted;

my 89' NA is only doing like <400ish k's at the moment  getting tuned this week so hopefully it should improve

Perhaps yours needs a tune too??? 250s pretty bad, thats prolly even worse than my brothers old rs legacy and it was pretty damn bad! :?
A plan so good my head would explode if I even began to know what I was talking about...

Check out your O2 sensor and the wiring from it to the ecu, when it fails it doesn't throw a code and kills your economy something wicked.

Get the automatic transmission serviced and check your ignition timing.

Injector cleaner can damage oxy sensors.

that is bad as fuel economy!!

If i drive my GTZ nicely with only a lil boost here and there i can get 520km off a 40L tank! Dont think that is to bad at all!

Does your car smoke when you plant your foot? If so that could be an indication that ur O2 sensor is on its way out..

I only get 320-350km a tank in my 101 gtz, which I dont think is that flash considering im running standard boost.

What is involved when getting a tune up? Maybe thats what I need.

phatgtz, 520kms from a tank, is that open road driving or around town? cos thats pretty impressive.

where can you get o2 sensors from (apart from toyota)?

yeah guys that is shocking. Even I get better than that. Usually around 450km for the tank around town driving on 1bar boost.

Took it down to stratford few weeks back and got 560off the tank, 1 bar boost minimum, at times 1.4 8)

My FXGTZ gets around 450-480ish on the tank.. I do a bit of boosting to be honest.. I find it's really hard not to. Especially on these cold winter nights out by the airport where I stay~

I suppose my car doesn't weigh as much as a Levin~

WANNA RACE!

ok its annonymous my car uses way too much fuel :(

im now thinking bout replacing o2 sensor, fuel filter and pcv valve in the near future. anything else that might cause excessive consumption? pretty sure plugs, leads etc are all good

sexymr2: Whats your power like when you put your foot down? If it doesn't seem to be as powerful as before, then I'd say that yea, O2 sensor as it will be running too rich.

holy shit!!!!!! i get 600km on a tank of 98 Gas in my 89 aw! last time i did a drive to aux and round i got my 600Km to the tank (it literally stopped!) mine is the NA. i used to own a 89 SC auto and got arounf 450Km to the tank. toss your Oxy definatly, and replace the cable. next i'd check the SC works, if it runs at idle it'll suck the gas, auto tranny makes no difference, injectors could need a clean and new plugs. i did this and made a huge difference!

Remember guys and don't get confused, MOST 89 Aw11's have 88 Engines and so look for the 88 problems first! VERY few aw11's were made in 89, yet alot were registered as 89 as they were first sold in 89.

I am yet to see another 89 NA with a 89 Engine....the differences are huge!
