4age RWD <------ watch this space

Postby coleman » Mon Apr 05, 2004 6:50 pm

after owning my car too long and not doing anything about the crappy 3a engine, i have decided that i will put my money where my mouth is and get the Toyoda a 4ager,

well the plan is:

red top 4age - dont try and make me get a supa charger
t50 gearbox
either hilux lsd or standard lsd or similar with rear disc breaks
new front breaks from ae86 or ae92 - easiest to fit
2.25 mandrel bent exhaust

any other ideas that i should do while the car is in pieces?

damn you mr AE85.6!!!! you and your 4age AE85,

get rid off the sound deadning, a dude on the board did this and saved 17kg 8O
also get rid of the aircon if you have it, and dont be lazy, get rid of the stuff under the dash as well, i did this for a mate and hadn't done it before, it should only take half an hour to do (thats what it took me)
ohh and clean all the road shite out from your engine bay when the engine is out, the paint is always the hell filthy, thats if you like bling, if you like drinking warm beer and watching tele instead then thats probably a better option

yeah air con will go, it sounds like a witch got caught under the bonnet anyways, hopefully it wont effect the power steering,

plan is to get the engine bay sprayed at same time,

hopefully in the long run go the same red as the batmo rx7's

at this moment in time, no,

depending on progress etc and money flow, it might happen

i will be happy with a 1600 for now,

atleast itwill still be in a N/A class and the only thing that would beat it would be a Vtec honda

yeah, not planing on totally stripping it, the interior is the best thing about the car, so will most likely keep it all in there,

but if on the motor way and some dork is getting smart ic an blitz him (fingers crossed)

i would suggest buying a bluetop 4age as they are much better in stock form in my opinion. And you can get them as factory RWD and in the long run retain value far better than a dunga redtop that is slow to rev and has no peakyness

they are easier to convert to RWD as drift4ag has said, they are also dime a dozen and everywhere, bluetops came in so many different cars its not funny (AW11, AE82, AE86 etc ....)
Also it has been proven that if you can get enough fuel into them they will take a lot of boost and make a ton of power  all on factory internals

also the bluetop revs up quicker due to its lighter internals and goes really well at high rpm due to its higher lift and longer duration cam profiles

im just doin this myself atm, but in a te71

as for what engine to use and how much power and which is better blah blah blah, u can debate this until u go blue in the face.

a blue top would be a good choice mostly cos theyre cheap, u should be able to score one for around 300 - 400 bux if u look hard enuff.

also try to find a rwd bluetop, its waterpump, water hose fittings, alternator is already setup for rwd and less hassel. unless u get a fwd 4age and plan to just use fwd pumps in stuff, then i dunno cos i havent done that :P
above this is a line
