mr2 problem

The noise seems to be coming from behind and can also be felt just behind the gearstick where you rest your arm?
Any ideas guys? gearbox? engine mount? exhaust? car is pretty standard

Possibly the gear shift cables, I seem to recall they can cause this sort of problem.
