Pistons are pretty hard to melt in ZE's - They're forged.

A healthy stock ZE motor with a turbo hanging off the side can push 300hp easily, and there's plenty of examples of cars doing this.

Interesting disclaimer time...

dont matter if pistons forged or not, the key to it all holding together is tuning. Tuning is everything.

but yeah 300hp easy peasy, brand new ze (dunno where you getting one from if not rebuilt) could do 400-500hp if setup right. Look at the speedtech dx, nothing really special inside that motor, just a really good setup and well tuned at that.

they are easy to melt if your mixtures are to lean and if yoru timing decides to advance it self from 7000-7500rpm.

i think what is meant by semi forged is that they're cast and then heated pretty much to forging temp which makes them stronger than regular cast pistons but not as strong as forged ones.

fivebob or someone described the process on the general forum under the thread about the blown up caldina

There's photos, and technical jargon for yah.

ca18det runs cast
