When you're advancing the timing, which way do you turn the dizzy?

I have a sneaky feeling I've been running on about 0 deg base...

Turn the dist in the direction of rotation to retard the timing
and opposite to advance.

You need to bridge the check connector and have the idle contacts closed to set it correctly.
