drag times

Postby ELiTeHaYDeN » Fri May 07, 2004 10:01 pm

Is there anyway to get a 1/4 mile speed from the 1/8 mile speed etc.

theres no quarter mile tracks around here, so a 200m strip was marked out 200m then run.

can consistantly get to 77mph/123km/h with no launch at all on 5psi

are there any calculators to give rough esimations of possible 1/4mile times/mph speeds?

What are some other peoples REAL 1/8mile speeds? post em up.

Hmm you never gave us your time or what kind of car you running as that can have a fair effect on what 1/4 times you will end up with!
Ie a 4 wheel driver can have a real quick 1/8th time at a reasonable speed and then slow up considerably where as a similarly powered rear or front driver will be slightly down on time but be around the same speeds through the 18th traps!

Anyhow what you wanted was 8th times then translated to 1/4 times so here's mine

1/8th in 9.511 seconds @ 74mph and the 1/4 in 14.776 @93mph

i dnt really think you can work it out that way cuz you build up more speed down the quarter with those extra 200m......correct my if i'm wrong :?

RWD Toyota Corona - 1230kg + driver + fuel.
3TGTEU - 1800 Turbo

Mods are : Rb20DET Turbo(running 5psi), 3" Downpipe & 3" Exhuast, Rx7 InterCooler frontmounted, racing rims, racing cams, running rich as a muther even with the intercooler and rb20det turbo!

traction is only a issue in 1st gear(no launch)

havent timed the 1/8 mile, only know the finish speed aka 123km/h.

generally 2 cars that have the same 1/8mile time will be pretty equal wouldnt they? atleast to the 1/8mile mark, bar driver/traction etc.

Not really you get a really heavy car with more power shall we say 2000kgs with 500 horse or so that does the same 1/8th time as a 1000kg car with 200 horse will more than likely be quite a way ahead by the 1/4 mark! It's all about power to weight which is the same in these two case's but assuming they have the co-efficient of drag then the extra power in the heavier car becomes less of a problem once it's got on it's way where as the lightler less powerfull car takes less time to get moving but once it is moving doesn't accelerate as fast seeing as it just doesn't have the smae grunt behind it! See it quite often on the strip light assed evo's running against gto's with an extra 600 od kg's and about 100 extra hp! Evo owns till the 18th then just gets reeled in by the heavier more powerfull gto!

With your setup i would expect a lowish 14 at around 97mph :)

no strips here thats the problem, its just a 200m strip marked out on a peice of road, reasonably accuractly ~ + or - 5metres

do you live in blenheim 20v? cant say ive ever seen the car in your profile around town either.
